Sound familiar?

Your website is technically working, but something feels off.

Maybe it's slower than it used to be. Maybe you've been putting off updates because you're not sure what will break. Maybe your last web developer disappeared and left you with no documentation.

You have a nagging feeling there are problems you can't see: security risks, outdated software, things that could fail at any moment.

You need answers before you can move forward. But you don't want to commit to a big project without understanding what you're dealing with first.

Get clarity with a Website Health Check

The Website Health Check is a thorough review of your site's current state: what's working, what's at risk, and what needs attention.

This isn't an automated scan or generic report. I personally review your website across multiple areas and explain everything in plain English. No technical jargon, just honest answers.

You'll know exactly what's going on and what to do about it.

What I'll Check

Everything that affects your site's health

WordPress & Plugins

Are your plugins and themes up to date? Are any abandoned or causing conflicts? Is your WordPress core healthy?

Hosting & Server

Is your hosting appropriate for your needs? Is the PHP version current? Are there configuration issues slowing you down?

Speed & Performance

Why is your site slow? Are images too large? Is caching set up properly? What's causing the biggest delays?

Security Basics

Are there obvious security holes? Is SSL working correctly? Are backups actually happening? What's putting you at risk?

Database & Content

Is your database bloated with old data? Are there broken links or orphaned content? Is your site organized sensibly?

Written Report

A clear document summarizing everything I found, organized by priority (fix now, fix soon, nice to have). No jargon.

What You'll Walk Away With

Clarity, confidence, and a path forward

  • A clear picture of your website's current health
  • A prioritized list of what needs to be fixed (and why)
  • Confidence to make informed decisions about next steps
  • A document you can use whether you work with me or someone else
  • Peace of mind knowing what you're actually dealing with

Setting Expectations

What this audit is not

To be completely transparent, here's what the Website Health Check does not include:

Not a fix

The Health Check is the diagnosis, not the treatment. If you want me to fix what I find, that's a separate project we can discuss afterward.

Not a marketing or SEO strategy

I'll check technical SEO basics (title tags, meta descriptions, page speed), but I'm not analyzing keywords, competitors, or backlinks.

Not a security penetration test

I'll check for obvious security issues and basic hardening, but I'm not running vulnerability scans, SQL injection tests, or trying to break into your site.

Not a full accessibility (WCAG) audit

I'll flag basic issues like missing alt text and poor heading structure, but I'm not testing with screen readers or running formal compliance checks.

Not ongoing monitoring

This is a single point-in-time review. If you need continuous uptime monitoring or regular security scans, that's a separate service.

Not a code review

I won't audit your theme code, custom plugins, or JavaScript line-by-line. I'm looking at how the site functions, not how it's built internally.

Not a legal compliance review

I don't check GDPR compliance, cookie consent banners, privacy policies, or terms of service. You'll need a lawyer for that.

Who This Is For

I work best with:

  • Business owners unsure what's wrong

You know something feels off but can't pinpoint it. A Health Check gives you answers without guesswork.

  • Anyone whose developer left without documentation

Inherited a site with no record of what's installed or how it works. I'll map it all out.

  • Non-technical owners before committing to bigger work

Before investing in a redesign or rescue project, it helps to know exactly what you're dealing with.

If you want clarity before spending money, this is the right starting point.

This probably isn't for you if:

  • You need things fixed immediately

A Health Check is diagnosis, not treatment. If your site is down or actively broken, a Rescue project is a better fit.

  • You want an automated scan

This is a manual review. If you just want a quick checklist, free tools exist. This is more thorough.

  • You've had a professional audit recently

If your site was reviewed within the last 12 months and nothing major has changed, you may not need another one yet.

I'd rather tell you honestly that you don't need this than take your money for something that won't help.

How It Works

From request to report in four steps

1

Request a Health Check

Fill out the form with your website URL and a bit of context about your concerns. I'll follow up within 24 hours.

2

Grant Access

I'll send you a simple checklist of what I need: usually WordPress admin, hosting access. Don't worry if you're unsure how to get it; I'll help.

3

I Review Everything

I manually check every area of your site: speed, security, plugins, hosting, and more. This typically takes 2–3 business days.

4

You Get Your Report

A clear written document, organized by priority. We can walk through it together on a call if you'd like.

Why Work With Me

Expertise, context, and a clear path forward

Thorough and context-aware

Every finding is reviewed with real-world context in mind — not just flagged as a problem, but understood in terms of what it actually means for your site.

Plain English explanations

No jargon. Every finding is explained so you understand what it means for your business, not just your server.

Prioritized, not overwhelming

You get a report organized by urgency: fix now, fix soon, and nice to have. No 40-page document with no clear direction.

No obligation to continue

The report is yours to keep. Use it with me, with another developer, or on your own. There's no pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

Do I need a Health Check before you can help me?

Not required, but I recommend it for new clients. It gives us both a clear picture before committing to bigger work. If you already know what's wrong, we can discuss skipping this step.

What if you find serious problems?

That's exactly what this is designed to uncover. Better to know now than discover issues during a crisis. The report includes recommendations so you can address problems in the right order.

Will you fix the problems you find?

The Health Check is just the diagnosis. If you'd like me to fix what I find, we can discuss a Website Rescue project or ongoing care plan afterward. There's no pressure.

What access do you need?

Usually I'll need WordPress admin access and hosting/FTP access. I'll send you a simple checklist after you request a Health Check. Don't worry if you're not sure how to get this info. I can help.

What if I decide not to work with you afterward?

No problem at all. The report is yours to keep. You can use it to guide work with another developer or your own team. There's no obligation to continue.

What if something goes wrong?

The Health Check is read-only. I'm just looking, not touching. If I'm unable to complete the review due to access issues on my end, you'll get a full refund.
